About Me
On April 24th, 2004, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Ben Roethlisberger, quarterback from Miami of Ohio, with the 11th overall pick in the draft. In September of 2004, the Steelers’ starting QB, Tommy Maddox, went down with an elbow injury, thrusting the rookie into a starting position. Despite losing the game in which Tommy Maddox got hurt, the Steelers went on to win their next 13 regular season games and made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game, before being knocked out by the New England Patriots. However, the young Big Ben bounced back the following season and became the youngest QB in the history of the NFL to win the Super Bowl. That was all I needed to see. That young kid from Ohio made me a fan for life.
Since then, as I have grown up, being a Steelers fan has taken me all over the country for games, where I have met some of the coolest people, and experienced some of the coolest moments. I have spent an absurd amount of time and money following this team and have probably taken several years off my life in the process. My fandom for this football team has become a pretty real and important part of my identity, as has my love for the city of Pittsburgh and the people that are from there.
With all that being said, this platform is basically just my playground to dump my unsolicited opinions about the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as to document my experiences in and around the city of Pittsburgh and the Steelers.
Disclaimer: I am not associated with the NFL or the Pittsburgh Steelers in any way. I’m merely a fan with some strong opinions.
