Pittsburgh Deserves Buctober

The Pittsburgh Pirates have recently caught fire, and it has struck a chord with fans, who have reinvigorated the energy at PNC Park.

The Buccos were able to sweep the White Sox in their final series before the All-Star Break, bringing them to .500 at just the right time. After that, they were able to steal the series against the Phillies, who are widely recognized as one of the best teams in baseball. Don’t look now, but the Pirates have won 8 of their last 10 games, and sit just a half game back from the final wild card spot, which is currently held by the Mets.

The Buccos have been a hot topic, as of late, largely due to the emergence of the most popular man in Pittsburgh, Paul Skenes. That poor guy couldn’t catch a breath during the All-Star Break, as it seemed like there was always a camera in his face. The stache has taken over MLB, and speaking of the stache, shoutout to Primanti Bros for that awesome meal-deal they did during the All-Star Game

Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the last few months, or you just don’t like baseball, Skenes is the real deal. He has a 6-0 record as a starter, with a 1.90 ERA and a WHIP under 1. Translation: really fuckin’ good.

Attrition has caught up to some of the pitching rotation, as Jared Jones and Bailey Falter are both dealing with some minor ailments. Both of them should be good to go in the next couple of weeks.

Outside of the disappointment that has been Ke’Bryan Hayes, and some inconsistency by the bullpen, there is a lot of optimism surrounding this team as we head into a CRUCIAL series against the Cardinals. The city of Pittsburgh needs and deserves October baseball. Trust and believe, when this pitching rotation is healthy, no one is going to want to run into them in a Wild Card series. All we need is a ticket to the dance.

What think yinz? Can the Buccos pull it off?

I’ll be at the game on August 2nd vs. Arizona if any of yinz wanna meet up!
