Justin Fields: “Pittsburgh” is His Favorite Non-Home Stadium
Justin Fields sat down with Amon-Ra and Equanimeous St. Brown on their podcast to discuss, amongst other things, his future in the NFL. To watch the interview in its entirety, click here.
One thing is clear after watching some of this interview, and that is that Justin Fields wants to stay in Chicago. However, he was willing to address the elephant in the room, on numerous occasions, which is that he may not be there when OTAs come around.
For example, at one point, he was asked why he unfollowed the Bears on Instagram, and he said he didn’t want to see anything about football for a while, and added: “I just want it to be over, let me know if I’m being traded or let me know if I’m staying.”
On another occasion, Fields acknowledges the interest coming out of Atlanta that he may become a Falcon, saying: “Atlanta would be tough. They definitely got some playmakers over there.”
The real news, for us Steeler fans, came when Justin Fields was asked what his favorite stadium outside of Chicago has been, so far, during his time in the NFL. His response was right to the point: “Pittsburgh!”
Of course, I’m just speculating, but I think Justin Fields got some advice from his agent on how to answer these questions. Obviously, Justin Fields knows that there’s a big chance that he’s not going to be in Chicago any longer. However, he still said that Chicago is where he wants to be next season. Additionally, Justin Fields is from Atlanta, and there has been tons of speculation that they will make a move to acquire him, so he talked about their explosive playmakers. That speculation also branches out to the city of Pittsburgh, so he talks about how amazing the fans are, and how Acrisure is his favorite stadium.
Is it possible Pittsburgh really is his favorite place to play? Of course it is. Our fans are some of the best in the world; proven time and time again. However, fans shouldn’t be reading too much into his comments, most of which are lip service to keep him in the good graces of all the places he may potentially end up in the coming months.
We’ll see how it shakes out, but I still don’t think Justin Fields ends up in a Steelers uniform in 2024.
