Power Rankings: Where Do the Steelers Rank After 2-0 Start?

Disclaimer: These rankings are my opinion and my opinion only. I try my best to remain unbiased, but if my content is any indication, I often fall short. My opinion isn’t important. I just love football!

Legit Super Bowl Expectations:

  1. Kansas City Chiefs (Previously 1)- Be mad at the refs if you want…the Chiefs just win football games.

  2. Houston Texans (Previously 2)- The Bear’s defense is legit, but Houston’s defense locked up Caleb Williams and forced him to make mistakes. The Texans look like a complete team.

Very Good Teams With Holes:

3. Buffalo Bills (Previously 9)- For the record, I don’t think the Bills are THIS good, but given what has happened to some of the premier teams in the league over the past week, I’ll leave them here for now.

4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Previously 18)- I said last week that I felt I had ranked them too low, and that was proven to be true. The Buccs beat a Super Bowl contender in the Detroit Lions. They’re real until proven otherwise.

5. San Francisco 49ers (Previously 4)- The injury to Christian McCaffrey is the biggest concern for them, in my opinion, moving forward. However, that defense looks like it can get got too.

6. Detroit Lions (Previously 3)- I’m not going to bury them for losing to a solid Buccaneers team. That was good on good football.

7. Green Bay Packers (Previously 10)- I really thought Jordan Love being out would severely hurt this team, but they played a great game against an allegedly good Colts team.

The Pittsburgh Steelers:

8. Pittsburgh Steelers (Previously 11)- Our defense has been extremely good, and Justin Fields is taking care of the football en route to a 2-0 record heading into week three against the Chargers. This offense has struggled to generate points, but that has a lot to do with penalties, which should be expected with so many new faces in that locker room. With that being said, that needs to get cleaned up, because 13 points isn’t going to cut it against the Chargers. Last year, it was three-and-out seemingly every time the Steelers touched the ball. We’re clearly much better than we were then, and there’s a reasonable path to growth and prosperity for them on that side of the ball. We really need to stop putting Broderick Jones on the field, though.

The Other “Good” Teams:

9. Minnesota Vikings (Previously 19)- The Giants team they beat in week one is dog shit. The 49ers, however, are not. The Vikings always seem to be competitive, don’t they?

10. New Orleans Saints (Previously 23)- Ummm okay? What the fuck was that? I guess they’re good? Idk…

11. New York Jets (Previously 12)- Like I said last week, no need to panic about this team. They’ll be fine.

12. Baltimore Ravens (Previously 5)- The Raiders aren’t that good, and the Ravens couldn’t put them away in Baltimore. Both sides of the ball don’t look right at the moment. I love to see it, but I have to acknowledge that there’s too much talent on their roster for them to continue losing.

13. Los Angeles Chargers (Previously 17)- Jim Harbaugh has been successful thus far as the Chargers’ head coach. They will be the Steelers’ toughest game so far this year on Sunday.

14. Philadelphia Eagles (Previously 6)- The Eagles were a Saquon fingertip away from beating the Falcons. Instead, they’re 1-1.

15. Dallas Cowboys (Previously 8)- They got SMOKED by the Saints. I thought this defense was supposed to be good?

Comme Ci Comme Ca:

16. Cincinnati Bengals (Previously 14)- The Bengals probably should’ve won their game against the Chiefs. They played with a lot of urgency, but fell just short as the Chiefs took them out on the boot of Harrison Butker. 0-2.

17. Atlanta Falcons (Previously 22)- That was a hell of a game-winning drive, orchestrated by Kirk Cousins against that Eagles defense. Masterful stuff from the vet. It makes me feel really great about how he looked against Pittsburgh in week one.

18. Miami Dolphins (Previously 7)- If you’re a football fan, and a decent human, you’re rooting for Tua’s health. With that being said, from a football perspective, this team looks buried right now. This next month, or so, will be crucial for the trajectory of their franchise.

19. Cleveland Browns (Previously 21)- I’m not going to throw them a parade for scraping by the Jaguars. They’ve got ‘COLLAPSE INCOMING’ stamped on their foreheads in Cleveland.

20. Arizona Cardinals (Previously 28)- I’ll give the Cardinals their flowers. We see flashes of awesome football on both sides of the ball with this team.

21. Seattle Seahawks (Preciously 25)- Their schedule hasn’t been hard…AT ALL. But 2-0 is 2-0.

22. Las Vegas Raiders (Previously 24)- They went into Baltimore and STUNNED the Ravens. We Steelers fans love to see it.

23. Chicago Bears (Previously 15)- Maybe Justin Fields wasn’t the problem. It’s only been two games, though, Their story remains unwritten.

24. Los Angeles Rams (Previously 13)- The Rams are getting rammed by injuries.

25. Indianapolis Colts (Previously 16)- I’m glad I stayed reserved about the Anthony Richardson hype.

26. New England Patriots (Previously 26)- They play hard, and their defense is really good.

27. Washington Commanders (Previously 29)- Congratulations to Jayden Daniels for getting his first win as a pro. Yinz should be excited in the Nation’s Capital.

28. Jacksonville Jaguars (Previously 20)- It’s just tough for me to find any redeeming qualities with this team.

Trash:

29. Tennessee Titans (Previously 27)

30. Denver Broncos (Previously 30)

31. New York Giants (Previously 31)

32. Carolina Panthers (Previously 32)

There’s not very many “trash” teams in the league right now.
