Steelers Report to Latrobe for Training Camp
Today is report day for the Pittsburgh Steelers at St. Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, marking the start of training camp for this 2024 group.
It seems as though most of, if not all of, the guys have reported to camp, and we were able to avoid any holdouts or controversy, so that’s a positive. The only bit of “drama” I have detected on social media comes from RB Najee Harris addressing the media for the first time since the Steelers declined his fifth-year option. It’s not as noteworthy as some folks want to make it out to be, but he basically just reiterated his desire to be in a Steelers uniform and added that he was “disappointed for a minute” when he learned his option wouldn’t be picked up. Outside of that, we’ve made it through the reporting period scotch free.
According to Brooke Pryor, Troy Fautanu was the first Steeler to arrive in Latrobe this morning. How ‘bout this fuckin’ guy! First round pick, lifelong Steelers fan, immense pressure, knows he has to ball out, and he’s the first guy in the building. Talk about a young guy leading by example, and already emerging into a leadership role. I’ve done my fair share of praising this guy in the past, so I’ll keep this one brief, but I expect great things from Fautanu, even as a rookie. He’ll be battling with Dan Moore Jr. for the starting tackle spot opposite of Broderick Jones, who also carries quite a bit of expectation entering his second year.
The vibes are high and all the guys seem pumped to get the pads on and do some real hitting for the first time in a long time. This group is FAR different from the group that reported in 2023, and there are storylines galore to explore over the next couple weeks. The NFL season begins today. Here. We. Go.
