The 2024 NFL Draft Is Upon Us
The 2024 NFL draft will begin in Detroit, Michigan tomorrow evening at 7:30 pm eastern time. I don’t know about yinz, but the speculation has gotten a bit stale for me, and I’m super excited to have some clarity on that.
There are several ways to tune into this year’s draft, courtesy of The Walt Disney Company and ESPN. The presentation on ESPN’s television station will go over each team’s needs as they’re on the clock, and how their selection fits what that particular franchise is trying to do. The presentation on ABC will take a deep dive into each selection’s personal background, and their journey to the NFL. ESPN+, TikTok, Youtube, and the ESPN app will feature The Pat McAfee Show Draft Spectacular, which figures to feature some comedy, as well as analysis from various NFL personalities, and insight on each pick from one of the best coaches and GMs in NFL history, Bill Belichick.
For me, personally, I’ll be tuned into the Pat McAfee Show’s draft presentation, but you can tailor your viewing experience as you see fit using the options above.
As I mentioned before, I’m so tired of the speculation about what the Steelers are going to do with the 20th overall pick. If you’re a reader of mine, then surely you’ve seen 15 million+ mock drafts about it. I’m just not going to do that to you guys, so I’ll keep this nice, short, and sweet. I believe these are the most likely scenarios for the Pittsburgh Steelers on day one of the NFL Draft:
Graham Barton - OL from Duke
Jackson Powers-Johnson - C from Oregon (If we get him, I think we trade back to do so)
Cooper DeJean - CB from Iowa
Trade the No. 20 Pick in a package to SF for Brandon Aiyuk
Amarius Mims - OT from Georgia
I think, if we’re staying at the 20th overall spot, we can expect to see Barton or DeJean with that pick. I think if we’re trading back, we’re getting either Aiyuk, Powers-Johnson, or Mims. If we picked Powers-Johnson or Mims at 20, it would feel like a reach to me, and I’d be disappointed. To me, the worst case scenario is keeping the 20th spot and taking Mims. It would certainly be cool to pair him with his former teammate Broderick Jones, and he’s no scrub. However, I think he’s too much of a project compared to some of the other, more favorable options that I listed.
Guys, we made it. I’m so happy to put the rumors and speculation to bed. Get some rest, Steeler Nation. Tomorrow’s a big day.
Here. We. Go.
