Happy New Year Yinz!

I don’t know about yinz, but I am so happy that 2023 is done and over with.

Unfortunately, I don’t have many bright spots to look back on in the last 365 days, but I’m better, stronger, and smarter because of it. I’m thrilled to be going into the new year with such a positive attitude and outlook on life in general.

On November 26th, 2023, I made the decision to put down alcohol, probably forever. As of today, I have 37 days of sobriety and many, many more to go. 2024 is going to be a big test for myself, and I’m excited to see what I’m able to accomplish with a clear and level head.

One thing I’m certainly looking forward to doing at some point this year is finally taking a trip to Pittsburgh with my son. Being of a sound and present mind when I’m with him is something I need to be better about, and is definitely a New Year’s Resolution of mine. I have yet to be in my favorite city in the world with the most important person in the world, so that is mandatory. In the past when I’ve gone to Pittsburgh, whether that be for a Steelers game or for leisure, I have spent a majority of my time at bars, tailgates, or Acrisure getting shitfaced. Going with my six-year-old will give me an opportunity to do some things in the city I haven’t done yet, and wouldn’t even necessarily think to do.

Seeing a different side of Pittsburgh has always been a big goal of mine, especially since starting this blog. I’m going to take every chance in the future, starting with this year, to do just that. My plan is to take to Reddit for recommendations on things to do in and around the city with a six-year-old. However if any of yinz that come across this post have any suggestions, I’d love to hear them!

Here’s to sobriety, here’s to Pittsburgh, and here’s to making 2024 the best year ever.
