Pitt Panthers Make National Headlines in Win @ Duke
The Pittsburgh Panthers men’s basketball team took down the No. 7 Duke Blue Devils 80-76 at Cameron Indoor Stadium in North Carolina.
After the win, Panthers’ forward, Blake Hinson, had himself a little viral moment; jumping on the scorers’ table right in front of the Blue Devils’ student section, and was greeted by jeers and middle fingers. Hinson earned the right to rub it in a bit, scoring 24 points on a perfect 7-for-7 from three-point range. Also, this win marks the first time since 1979 that Pitt beat Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium, which certainly added to the excitement and tension alike.
The win was significant for the Pittsburgh Panthers, and sent shockwaves through the college basketball world. Pitt’s men's basketball team is coming off a solid year last year, making it into the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2016, before getting bounced in the second round by No. 3 Xavier. Hopefully, this win over Duke can act as a springboard for them to find some success, and give themselves another chance at the tournament in 2024.
But, man…what a moment for Blake Hinson and the Panthers.
