Russell Wilson to Throw Out First Pitch Tonight vs. Red Sox

Russell Wilson has handled his transition to the city of Steel about as well as you could expect. When the cameras come on, you’d expect any new arrival to an NFL team to express a level of gratitude and excitement, but it seems different with Russell Wilson. The way his face lights up and the passion in which he speaks about the history of the franchise, and the excitement about working with Coach Tomlin, seems extremely genuine. If this guy goes out there and performs well, the city of Pittsburgh is going to have his back for the rest of his fuckin’ life. Because that’s how the city of Pittsburgh rocks with its guys. And, this particular guy is off to a damn good start.

Later tonight, when the Boston Red Sox come to PNC Park for a game against the Pirates, Russell Wilson will be throwing out the ceremonial first pitch. It’s been fun to watch the way that the city of Pittsburgh has embraced him and vice versa.

The Pirates have come back down to earth after starting the year 5-0. They now sit at 11-8, one game back of first place in the NL Central. They are hoping to right the ship against Boston, who are 10-10 coming into this game.
