With that being said, this has been a depressing week, and I wanted to put this game behind me, so I didn’t do a super-duper deep dive in this one.

My oh my…what a difference two weeks makes in the National Football League.

I have had an extremely relaxing start to my Sunday. There’s something really serene about the early window of NFL Sunday when the Steelers aren’t in it. No stress, no anxiety…just NFL RedZone and good vibes. While I had that going, I also rewatched the Cowboys vs. Giants game from last week, which the Cowboys won 20-15.

The Steelers marched into the ‘LAHD HAHSE’ in Indianapolis for a bizarre game against the Colts that resulted in a 27-24 loss for the Steelers. I call the game bizarre, because Indianapolis looked like the better team to me, and yet, the Steelers should’ve won that game. The offense seemed ready to put this team on its back at times, but still made costly mistakes when shit got tight.

All of those topics are worthy of discussion, but there’s something special happening in Pittsburgh at the quarterback position that takes precedence over all of those things.

They could’ve played this game in LA or Pittsburgh…it wouldn’t have mattered. The stands would be filled with Terrible Towels either way. Chargers fans exist only in myth.

Troy Fautanu was solid in his Steelers’ debut at right tackle in the team’s win over the Denver Broncos. It was something I was excited to sing his praises about, but the excitement seems to be for naught, at least for now, as news came out earlier that he suffered “a little tweak” in today’s practice.

 Last year, it was three-and-out seemingly every time the Steelers touched the ball. We’re clearly much better than we were then, and there’s a reasonable path to growth and prosperity for them on that side of the ball.

The Pittsburgh Steelers defense was absolutely DOMINANT in a convincing 13-6 win against the Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoon. That win, paired with losses from the Bengals and Ravens, puts the Steelers two games ahead of the two powerhouses in the AFC North.

It felt like the Steelers really cruised through a decent Falcons team last week. Even though the final score was relatively close, the game felt entirely one-sided in favor of the Steelers. That’s good news for us, because we should absolutely be 2-0 when we head to Pittsburgh for our home opener next week.

The Steelers walked into Atlanta and secured a week one victory, 18-10. TRUST ME when I say that the final score is not indicative of what took place on the field; it was a peculiar game.

The 2024 Pittsburgh Steelers are arguably the biggest mystery in the NFL. Despite my optimism, I have to acknowledge that there are a lot of unknowns with this football team.

Brandon Aiyuk and the San Francisco 49ers agreed on a 4-year, $120 Million contract extension, bringing an end to the long and drawn-out standoff between the Steelers, Browns, Commanders, and 49ers.

Head Coach Mike Tomlin spoke with the media yesterday to officially announce that Russell Wilson will be QB1 to start the regular season.

I have nothing but respect for guys like DB Zyon Gilbert and WR Jaray Jenkins, both of whom I thought really made a strong case for themselves in the final preseason game against the Lions, but didn’t quite make the cut.

We’ve got a game against the Lions tomorrow with jobs (quite literally) on the line. In his press conference, Coach Tomlin made it clear that everyone that’s healthy will participate, although the division of labor is delicate and not set in stone. 

I hate to regurgitate the same sentiments as every other blogger and sports writer that covers the Pittsburgh Steelers, but a lot of us (myself included) were damn near ready to crown them as Super Bowl Champions after last year’s display in the preseason when Kenny Pickett was ripping defenses with ease, and we saw how that played out.
