Now for the defense:

It seems like the consensus winner of the first two days has been CB Donte Jackson.

This group is FAR different from the group that reported in 2023, and there are storylines galore to explore over the next couple weeks.

Still, there aren’t a lot of teams out there that got unequivocally better, like the Steelers have over the last few months. Mind you, these are SIGNIFICANT roster changes and improvements to a team that went 10-7 and made the playoffs last season.

Our regular defensive calls, which mostly consist of a five-man pass-rush with man coverage behind it, is certainly going to benefit from the depth we have at the CB position. Gone are the days of watching Levi Wallace and James Pierre get left on islands and burnt to crisps.

For the first time in the show’s history, HBO’s Hard Knocks will follow an entire division for the ‘in-season’ portion of the show in 2024. Coincidentally, that division will be the AFC North. ‘Hard Knocks: In Season With the AFC North’ will begin on December 3rd, and will follow the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, and Pittsburgh Steelers through the remainder of the season, and the playoffs.

Say what you want about Coach Tomlin, but if you’re upset about this contract, you’re (un)objectively wrong. And, yes, I’m being sarcastic, because I understand how unreasonable I am. However, he’s one of the best coaches in all of sport, and I think these next few years are going to be tremendously successful. Today is a good day to be a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Elliot is touted as a bigger, hard-hitting safety, and he’ll be at his most useful in the strong safety spot playing up on the line of scrimmage and defending the flat.

Looking at Arthur Smith’s career, both as a coordinator and a head coach, it’s true that his offenses operate at a high level in the trenches with a lot of heavy personnel packages, which likely bodes well for the group we have now on offense, particularly with the additions to the offensive line and the added mobility at the quarterback position.

I don’t think it’ll take long for the Steelers’ newly acquired ILB Patrick Queen to emerge as one of the most important players on the defense. Not only that, I STILL believe he’s the best pickup we’ve had this offseason.

I wrote, earlier this month, about the AFC North and how I saw the division playing out, based solely on the list of opponents that was provided to us earlier this year. I had the Steelers and Ravens both finishing the year 11-6 and battling for the division crown. I’m not wavering from that prediction, but the schedule makers did everything in their power to make it as complicated as possible.

I wanna look even further ahead than that. Now that we have a good idea of what the AFC North teams will look like, I wanted to make some way-too-early projections on how the division will shake out this season. Who will be the kings in the North this year?

I would argue that EVERY SINGLE PICK they made, besides the Logan Lee pick, should’ve been off the board before we got them. It was a masterclass in patience by Pittsburgh this year.

Saturday brought the conclusion of the 2024 NFL Draft, and three additional draft picks for the Steelers; one in the fourth round and two in the sixth round.

Our offensive line has the potential to be one of the best in the world, and we’ve added some SERIOUS speed both on offense and defense. I don’t think I’m overreacting when I say that this team can compete for first place in the AFC North, and maybe even a Super Bowl.

With the 20th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers selected Troy Fautanu, offensive tackle from the University of Washington.

The 2024 NFL draft will begin in Detroit, Michigan tomorrow evening at 7:30 pm eastern time. I don’t know about yinz, but the speculation has gotten a bit stale for me, and I’m super excited to have some clarity on that.

The Steelers are known to be a cards-close-to-the-vest type of team in general, and this press conference was no difference. To put it bluntly, no team outside of the Chicago Bears is going to divulge anything to the media that is going to give any real insight into their draft plans.

The Steelers hosted Duke OL Graham Barton and NC State LB Payton Wilson for pre-draft visits today, according to multiple sources. With Barton projected to be the first center off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft, and that being arguably the biggest hole that needs to be filled for the Steelers, I decided to watch some film in lieu of his visit with the team.

But, this guy, John Frascella, keeps popping up everywhere claiming to have these uber-credible sources, and twisting basic ass, well-known and documented information, and adding his own spin to it trying to boost his own credibility. And, it’s failing. Miserably.
